Investing.com - The monthly Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey, or JOLTS, showed that job openings decreased in November.

Job openings, a measure of labor demand, fell by 243,000 to 6.888 million in November, the Labor Department said.

Economists had forecast job openings of 7.063 million.

There were 7.131 million openings in the prior month, an upward revision from the initial 7.079 million.

The report also indicated that, over the month, hires edged down to 5.7 million, quits edged down to 3.4 million, and total separations were little changed at 5.5 million.

Within separations, the quits rate and the layoffs and discharges rate were unchanged at 2.3% and 1.2%, respectively.
