Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Oil&Gas and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia added 1.13%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN), which rose 4.88% or 672.0 points to trade at 14442.0 at the close. Meanwhile, X5 Retail Group NV (MCX:FIVEDR) added 2.32% or 38.0 points to end at 1674.0 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) was up 1.93% or 1.86 points to 98.12 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON), which fell 1.70% or 10.80 points to trade at 624.20 at the close. NPK OVK PAO (MCX:UWGN) declined 1.08% or 5.3 points to end at 483.3 and Magnit (MCX:MGNT) was down 1.05% or 41.0 points to 3859.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 116 to 101 and 23 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 0.56% to 23.170.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.18% or 2.35 to $1287.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.06% or 0.60 to hit $55.96 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.33% or 0.22 to trade at $65.64 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.27% to 65.9397, while EUR/RUB rose 0.38% to 74.6208.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 96.780.
